To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ

Welcome to Ware's Chapel!

Ware's Chapel is one of many churches in the Miami Valley District.  This district and seven others make up the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church.  We are located on a narrow country road in northern Preble County surrounded by several picturesque farms.    Even though we're in a rural setting, the congregation is forward-thinking and involved in national and global missions supported by the Conference.   Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m.  Worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.  On the 3rd Sunday of the month, worship service is held in the Fellowship Hall with a light brunch served by that month's host family/group/class.   A staffed nursery is available during both Sunday School and Worship Service for children ages 3 and under.  Children ages 3-11 years old may attend Children's Church, which begins after the Children's Moment during worship.

The Monroe Township Food Bank is housed at Ware's Chapel.  A volunteer staff serves the community on Mondays 9-11 a.m., on Wednesdays 3-5 p.m., and NOW ON SATURDAY MORNINGS 9-11 A.M. !!!   Volunteers announce that they now are also offering clothing for all ages and sizes.  Families with school-age children who signed up are receiving school backpacks.  Backpacks are filled with supplies to give them a boost towards a successful year.  If you know of anyone in the area that is in need of assistance, please let them know we are here to help.   The congregation of Ware's Chapel has been asked to prayerfully consider assisting the Monroe Township Food Bank and the Food Pantry of Wesley Community Center in Dayton (W.C.'s linked mission site) with specific items that are needed at both locations.  Please see the e-missions page on this website for more information.

FUTURE and/or RECENT EVENTS:
The United Methodist Women of Ware's Chapel hosted the annual Mother & Child Evening on Wednesday, May 2, at MCL Cafeteria in Richmond, Indiana.  Kay Swihart and Melody Reynolds welcomed more than 75 guests in one of the restaurant's banquet rooms, which had been nicely decorated with white tablecloths and floral centerpieces.  Everyone received either a keepsake "Bible Ditty" tin (ladies) or a foam "Bible Ditty" puzzle/cross (children).  After guests finished their delicious meals, Paul Wesler, local pastor and author, entertained with a varied program of music, comedy, and puppets, and read an excerpt from his new book coming out in the fall.  His current book "Bible Ditties" is in print now, and he signed copies for several in attendance.  At the conclusion of the evening, the floral centerpieces were awarded to those whose names were drawn.

Another successful Blood Drive was held at Ware's Chapel on Saturday, May 5,  coordinated by Amanda Koger and Christina Clark.  24 units were drawn.  Recently, the ladies presented Ware's Chapel with a plaque from the Community Blood Center in recognition of being a "Silver Partner."

This summer's Vacation Bible School is already being planned!  It will be held at the church July 8 - 12, 6-8:30 p.m. each evening.   The theme is "Babylon:  Daniel's Courage in Captivity."  Ware's Chapel will be transformed into a Babylonian palace and marketplace.  Each evening the kids will learn about Daniel as they join him on his adventures.  Contact Amy Weaver if you are able to attend planning meetings or would like to help during VBS week.

Ware's Chapel United Methodist Women hosted the annual Children's Easter Party and Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m.  Thirty-nine children, many accompanied by parents and grandparents, hunted candy-filled eggs, made crafts to take home, and decorated bunny-face cupcakes.  Janet Ott chaired the event and did a wonderful job!  Many helpers -- too numerous to mention here -- volunteered their talents, and their assistance was greatly appreciated!  The next day, Sunday, the children of the church carried palms to the altar during the first hymn.

Lenten Services were held Sunday evenings during Lent.  The first one was held at Ware's Chapel, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. with Gerry Sadai of the Sugar Valley UMC bringing the message.  Refreshments were served following the service.  Dates, times, and pastors for the rest of the services are as follows:
