A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial 2010 program is "Property Makes Mission Possible!"
For almost 100 years, UMW offerings have funded the construction of new buildings on properties owned by the Women's Division in both the United States and around the world. Many of these institutions and the programs they offer along with other worthy institutions who serve women and children are in need of improvements and expansions. A Women's Division policy statement, adopted in 1974, says in part: "Property makes mission possible in given situations. It 'grounds' mission, gives it visible form and is a vehicle for mission." Since "property makes mission possible," repair, renovation and improvements are critical if the outreach to women, children and families is to continue.
100% of the funds given during this special program are applied directly to groups and programs selected by the governing board of the United Methodist Women.
