Empowered by the Holy Spirit, collectively and individually we strive to worship and pray, learn and teach; and by our words and acts of caring, encourage all people to be reconciled to God and to each other.
Santa was a surprise visitor to our Christmas party and listened to all the children's wish lists. Other activities included decorating the S.U.M.-thing tree, wrapping gifts for C.H.U.M.S. and our college kids, and enjoying a meal together.
wrapping gifts for C.H.U.M.S.
During the holiday season, when the Council on Aging visits the county's developmentally disabled adults, they take gifts donated by individuals and organizations. This program was previously known as C.H.U.M.S. For quite a few years Ware's Chapel has supported this mission by donating puzzles, activity books, personal hygiene items, candy, etc. Charlene, Becky, Lorrie, Anita, and Abby were among those who wrapped and labeled the gifts.
after a delicious meal
Darrell, Boots, and Pam can always be counted on to help out in the kitchen. A delicious meal of assorted soups, salads, and desserts was enjoyed before we separated into work groups.
our S.U.M.-thing Tree
Marilyn, Joyce and Noah, and others string lights and hang ornaments made by the children. Socks, underwear and mittens were donated by the congregation through the month of December. After Christmas, the items were given to the Preble Co. Domestic Violence Shelter and Wesley Community Center.
wait till the college kids receive these packages!
Joy, Dianne, Joyce, and Lisa pose by packages of freshly-baked cookies. The cookies were made by congregation members and were then mailed to our college kids.
YF members and Loretta play games with children
Our youngest children enjoyed playing several games, made ornaments for the tree, and danced to music. Thanks to the Youth Fellowship for helping!
They'd rather just watch!
