Empowered by the Holy Spirit, collectively and individually we strive to worship and pray, learn and teach; and by our words and acts of caring, encourage all people to be reconciled to God and to each other.

To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ

Welcome to Ware's Chapel!

Ware's Chapel is one of many churches in the Miami Valley District.  This district and seven others make up the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church.  We are located on a narrow country road in northern Preble County surrounded by several picturesque farms.    Even though we're in a rural setting, the congregation is forward-thinking and involved in national and global missions supported by the Conference.   Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m.  Worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.  On the 3rd Sunday of the month, worship service is held in the Fellowship Hall with a light brunch served by that month's host family/group/class.   A staffed nursery is available during both Sunday School and Worship Service.  Children ages 3-10 years old may attend Children's Church, which begins after the Children's Moment during worship.

The Monroe Township Food Bank is housed at Ware's Chapel.  A volunteer staff serves the community on Mondays 9-11 a.m. and on Wednesdays 3-5 p.m.  If you know of anyone in the area that is in need of assistance, please let them know we are here to help.   The congregation of Ware's Chapel has been asked to prayerfully consider assisting the Monroe Township Food Bank and the Food Pantry of Wesley Community Center in Dayton (W.C.'s linked mission site) during the next year beginning in September with specific items that are needed at both locations.  Please see the e-missions page on this website for more information.

Vacation Bible School
was held at Ware's Chapel the week of July 11-15.  This year's theme was Hero Headquarters.  Bible stories each night told of a few unsung heroes in the Bible.  Crafts, singing, snacks, games, music, and an opening & closing program were highlights.  A short program for parents and friends was held on Thurday night following the closing program.  On Sunday, July 18, the children presented a program for the congregation during morning worship.   A great big thank you to Amy Weaver for organizing VBS and to all the volunteers and donors who made it possible.  Offerings during VBS will be sent to Heifer International for the Heifer Project.  Enough money was raised during the week of VBS and from the congregation on the following Sunday to purchase 22 pens of chickens for deserving families in Africa to supplement their household income.  Learn more about this ministry at www.heifer.org   Click on the link at the top right of this page to view pictures!!

Bible Study on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the LeFevre room.

Women's Bible Study  The Salt and Light Women's Bible Study meets on Monday evenings, except in the summer months.   The group invites everyone to join them.   First meeting for this fall is Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.  All women of the church are invited to participate.  Throughout the year, various studies are used.  Please contact Dianne Driver or Loretta Lee for more information.

A new church directory is being printed by Olan Mills Photography.   All those who had their picture taken will receive a copy.

The July/August issue of the Beacon has been printed.  Our church secretary Joanna has done an excellent job -- lots of news and articles.  Find out what's going on at Ware's Chapel by contacting us to be included on the email list or to get a printed copy.  Pastor Seth's letter is reprinted on this website.  Click that link to read it.  Also, check out what the UMW has planned for this fall on their e-page.

Thanks to all who contributed!  The local Preble County Habitat For Humanity organization turned down a grant which would have helped with their next building project due to the many restrictions placed on its use.   We received a letter advising us of this, and designated this month's 5th Sunday Loose Change Offering to help them.

Mark your calendar:  October 23rd is the second blood drive hosted by Ware's Chapel.  Plans are to hold at least two drives a year.  Each whole blood donation can be used to save up to three lives.  At the last drive, 25 donors participated and there were 23 viable units.  If you would like to be a donor, contact Amanda Koger or Christina Clark.  Appointments are now being taken.  If you are a regular blood donor, the last day you can donate and still be eligible for the drive on the 23rd is August 28th.

Please check the calendar on this website for additional activities that may not be outlined here.  And take a moment to explore the entire website, then let us know what you think.  What other information would you like to see here?  You can send your comments and/or suggestions using the "Contact Us" link.
